David Becker

David Becker -
After leaving school I worked around the orchards at home and played footy with the Tigers. I played in the winning U17 grand final side on the 21Aug88 and the next day I left home to join the Navy at HMAS Cerberusin Victoria for basic recruit training and specialist training as a Radio Operator.
Upon completion of my time at CERBERUS I was posted to HMAS Harman in Canberra where I worked for 6 months. In December of 1989 I was then posted to Western Australia to join my first ship HMAS Moresby which was a survey ship conducting surveys of the Northern Parts of Australia. After spending 18 months onboard the ship I was posted to Darwin for the first time and fell in love with the place due to its laid back atmosphere and everybody’s easy going attitude. One of the favorite sayings up here is that NT stands for Not Today, Not Tomorrow, Not Tuesday and Not Thursday cause no one is ever in a hurry. I spent 2 years working at Navcommsta Darwin then posted to HMAS Balikpapan which is a landing craft that works a lot with the Army dropping them off on a beach or in a river somewhere so that they can practice finding their way home. After 3 years posted there I have had numerous sea and shore postings in the Darwin and Cairns areas enjoying all of them most of the time. I have recently Sep 2005 joined one of the new Armidale Class Patrol Boats in Darwin and am currently involved in what is called a workup phase to put the boat and its crew through its paces to make sure that what we have asked for in the new boats is what we have received.
Personally I got married in April 1996 to Kim Houlihan and we have 2 children, Braydon who is 7 and Ashleigh who is 5. They are both loving school as you all No doubt remember I to used to love so much (NOT) but anyway they do so its All good there. I no longer play any sort of football due to having to have my Knee rebuilt three times in the last 10 years so now I just play good old fashioned Pub sports like pool, darts, cards and every now and then I like a game of golf Cause you can have a beer while doing that as well. Sorry I could not make to the reunion which I sure u will all have a good time At but I am currently at sea so there was not much I could do about it OOROO for now
